Not saying he's not a bad guy.

And the article was a great example of the stuff which can come out of the Department of (hidden) Justice. At the very least there's a disconnect between what was alleged and what was reported.

First - "WASHINGTON –– The U.S. government has arrested an alleged al Qaida terrorist who plotted to build and detonate a radiological "dirty" bomb, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Monday."

It says "plotted to build and detonate".

Next - "The attorney general said Mujahir had served prison time in the United States in the early 1990s, then traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan during 2001 and met with al Qaida officials. Ashcroft said Mujahir "trained with the enemy, including studying how to wire explosive devices and researching radiological dispersion devices."

My guess is that any of us on this board could be accused of "researching radiological dispersion devices" because we read your post.

While the article describes much in detail, there's no indication this guy had access to, the equipment for, or an interest in handling highly radioactive materials. Or explosives. All necessary to build and detonate a dirty bomb. Or at least build.

The article just says he was "researching". Unless there's more, and I have a strong hunch they said everything they know and a bit more, I'm not sure that's "planning".

I read your post, and I'm not planning.

As I said, he's undoubtedly a bad guy, and if he's done something wrong I'm damned happy they have him. And, I'm not convinced the administration isn't busy generating some dubious stuff to show they are busy.
