<If the Arab League had the power to impose a settlement giving a small piece of America to an ancient group, say SE Texas to the Karankawa Indians, what would we do?
Before we became a nation, England, Spain, and France were doing just that, trading our territories among themselves, setting boundaries, fighting battles, and assigning sovereignity. Eventually, we kicked their asses out, but the borders still changed as other wars were fought and deals were made.
I have no doubt that if we had been weak militarily throughout history, our nation would indeed have been carved up by outside powers. East Coast: New Germany, West Coast: New Japan.
I don't know what would have happened if the Karankawa Indians had been given a small nation of their own. Maybe they wouldn't be extinct now.
It is the height of hypocrisy to berate Israel for being an "artificial" nation, when almost every other nation in the area except Egypt was also carved arbitrarily out of the Ottoman Empire. No one craps on Jordan for being an "illegitimate" nation. No one craps on Syria for "occupying" Lebanon. No one craps on any number of Arab nations for the oppression and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians within their borders.
There are no objective standards of right and wrong being used in this dispute. The only consistent goal is the destruction of Israel, for being Jewish, and worse, for being Western.
