I vividly remember how the Left raked Nixon over the coals (and he deserved it) and how they endlessly attacked Reagan (mostly undeserved) during his years in office, calling him everything from a loveable dunce to a warmonger bent on world destruction. I remember years long investigations into absurdities like the "October Surprise" (as one Senator said at the time, "We're investigating because there is no evidence"). I also remember how men like Bork and Clarance Thomas were savaged by the Left. Now, they're whinning about getting the same in return when one of their own obstructs justice. Boo hoo.
Clinton brought it on himself by his behavior and I'm not at all talking about the sexual aspects. I'm talking about lying under oath and obstruction of justice. The fact that so many Democrats excused that behavior by trying to claim it was only about sex is one reason why I'll never vote for a Democrat again.
The day that we allow politicians to get a pass on breaking the law is the day we begin the decline into a banana republic. All politicians and government officials, regardless of party, must be held to at least the same level of the law as ordinary people. If you or I did the things that Clinton did, we'd be facing criminal prosecution. Why would anyone hold any politician (especially the president) to a lower standard than everyone else.
