There are many good CEOs. And, none of them who are good have borrowed $400 million from their own company. None of the good companies would loan their CEO that, and any Director who on the Board of such a company belongs in the remedial penitentiary. They should be held back several years, too.
The role of the Board of Directors is to protect the shareholders interests. (Workers don't have anyone unless they are organized.) Now, say, at WorldCom. Clearly, the interests of the shareholders have not been protected.
Or, at Enron.
Whatcha wanna bet GWB's outrage at these events stops short of expecting the Directors to have done their jobs, or holding them responsible except in generic terms.
Frankly, it's way the employees get screwed over that just fries me. Takes a while to get over.
