Is there a third alternative? Perhaps we are trying it now with "regime-building"
The Third Reich. Pol Pot. The Taliban. The list goes on quite extensively, and if this does not qualify as institutionalized evil, I don't know what would.
True enough, yet the world is not as black and white, cut and dried place as our beloved prez would have us believe.
While the Third Reich is properly condemned by the Left due to the odd conceit of its being perceived as an "opposite" to communism, there are still many on the Left apologizing for the Marxist Pol Pot. Go figure.
As are certain members of the far right who are still promoting certain of Hitler's ideas. Go figure.
While they are usually summarily ridiculed and laughed out of town, so would be anyone who tries to promote most of Stalin's (or Pol Pots) ideologies.
Cheers,
Tony
