If the president goes to war without the general support of the American public, Congress, and that of our world wide allies; he will pay a very heavy price at the polls.
Believe it or not, many more are getting tired of his Texan arrogance and lawlessness. (Not to mention his lack of fair play on all existing laws and treaties).
Starting something in the Middle East is too tricky right now, and could have unintended consequences. You don't go into a war without looking at all your options. He should be busy building and keeping coalitions and working from there.
I think what is still sticking in everyone's craw is the fact he still won't release the papers from all his energy task force meetings which deliberately cover up for his ENRON cronies.
