Re: Of course you believe that . . .

<I believe my post was made yesterday, when the news was reporting Kofi Annan as saying “unconditional inspections”. The ROW was responding to "unconditional inspections".

Which was:

You don't, true. No idea, tragically.

Then that mean ol' reality stepped on you again, because I apparently do have an idea, and a damned good one, where you do not.

As it stands, the posted article eluding to Iraq's non-compliance remains unverified by a lot of the press, so has yet to appear in the U.S. media -- though why the media is suddenly worried over validation is beyond me. Probably just a phase they're going through.

So there really is no new information today. The drums continue to beat, the politicizers continue to bleat, and the people of Iraq continue to die for lack of government support. Iraq is buying time, and nothing more, still nervously shuffling that hand they dealt to themselves. Hussein is scrambling for cover, and the UN is, at long last, fluffing its long-unused tail feathers in defiance. If we continue our press for a strike against Iraq, as I hope we do, the International Community will rise up against us to try to "bring the United States of America to heel," and when they do, I hope we can continue to fight it, which will further terrify Hussein, sending him to cow behind the UN for solace and protection.

Poker with a straight face, and a heavy dash of good cop, bad cop -- and the sure knowledge that this bad cop (us) comes to the party packin’, and that we are not afraid to use it. It gets hot in that room. Real hot. Some people run for their lives. Others die where they stand. If Iraq really wants to know what we’re holding, it’s gonna cost ‘em.

Believe it or not, B, I am rooting for peace -- and I root for it everywhere -- but the only way to obtain peace is to take it. It’s there, and it scares the hell out of the world’s tyrants, because it means change, which boils down to a change of leadership. It means the unhappy of the world need to be happy, and the only way to achieve this change is to depose the tyrant who insists upon sadness.

Frightening as hell...

But effective,
Dan
