There is a very live threat, B.
Israel remains a U.S. ally, and a U.S. asset. Israel is also a target for an internationally declared strike by Iraq.
That’s where the ball landed when the president stated the U.N. was failing in its mission to secure the Middle East. You know, the Middle East? That’s where we’ve been for almost a year now, watching how well the U.N. has been working.
The announced attack is “public” evidence. Should the U.S. move against Iraq in support of long-ignored U.N. resolutions against Iraq, Iraq would launch an attack against Israel. That wasn’t even a week ago, but you sure swept that one under the rug quickly.
I can only suppose there is more evidence, of an undisclosed sort, but I do know that if attacks against Israel can be blocked, non-Arab Turkey is next in line. Iraq has publicly declared open season on her neighbors (again) as hostage nations.
