What is most important is that Saddam Hussein took part in an attempt to assassinate a previous leader of Iraq, and was on the run for some time. For this attempted murder he was eventually imprisoned, but somehow managed to gain release and less than 10 years later became president. He immediately executed all of his opponents in government.
He is a criminal, and a criminal should not be allowed in a position of authority.
