I disagree. Term limits are like a forced change in Government

Ironically, changing the government every 4 or 8 years increases government continuity. If we changed Presidents only once every 20 years or so, the change from one President to another would be more of a jolt to the system.

Politicians, already driven to extremes when faced with losing an election, would be desperate to win election using all legal and illegal tools at their disposal...because the power of incumbency would be even more feared...and cherished...then ever before.

I'm for term limits on all federal politicians. I think it is ridiculous that one's career could be defined as "democratic politician" or "Republican Senator", etc... People should serve, and then retire back to the private sector. Maybe then we would get politicians who didn't see the Federal government as the end-all be-all of their, and perhaps more importantly, our existence.

Also, there are more than enough qualified, lawyers, accountants, doctors, engineers, farmers, etc... who would make great politicians if given the opportunity...Right now that door of public service is closed to all except those who are willing to make a career out of "Politics". We really need some fresh perspectives in Washington. We need some perspectives that aren't focused ON Washington.

The politicians in Washington want the American people to believe that we couldn't live with out them. They are experts. They run everything. We wouldn't want to get rid of them cause we might elect 535 dunderheads to replace them.

But that's just not true...There are probably a million qualified replacements available from all walks of life.
