Current Events » in reply to Learning and "diversity"

Unwittingly, you are confirming my theses.

Do you insist people learn about capitalism from capitalists? Why?

Do you think the Bible is best taught by Christians? Why?

Maybe because they do not carry the garbage into the discussion you would, or I would.

And if Christianity has a product, serenity, the Sermon on the Mount, the Golden Rule, do you think that any other religion would be attractive, ever? (Look at how angry many, not all, Christians are? "Bomb 'em all!!", they say. "Collateral damage" is more collateral than damage. If God loved 'em, they wouldn't be in those Godforsaken places.)

What's the harm in learning, advocating? Let's say some teacher is advocating a Flat Earth Theory. In the real world it doesn't work, doesn't explain things. So much for that teacher.

If, for instance, capitalism is so superior, it will survive very well. If it's not all that superior, one will find Enrons, WorldComs, Halliburtons and Andersons, Lays, Fastows and Cheney's who ruin confidence in "free enterprise", and the stock market will sink.

A typical example. Right-wing Christians don't want their kids learning about contraception. They think that teaching about that is advocating free sex, communism, and a wild lifestyle. Now, deny that.

They think that teaching about Marxism is advocating a dictatorship, repression, and cruelty toward humans. Again, a double hypocrisy. Deny that.

Nope, books are burned and banned by, guess whom, Conservatives. Yep. Maybe you can find a way to deny that.

"Just say no" works for Reagan, and their ilk. Deny it exists, don't learn anything but to hate 'em. I guess that's the saddest part. Conservatives don't want anyone to learn anything about other lives except to hate 'em.

"Either - or". Hate 'em, or you love 'em. If you can't see 'em as black, then you see 'em as white, and love 'em. Sick thinking.
