Voter fraud

<I'm only familiar with CA's way of doing things, of course. But for me to vote, they look up my name and address in a ledger and cross it off. Why is this so dangerous a system?

Without some form of picture ID--a good first step for tightening up on vote fraud--how do they know it's you? As just one example of how to exploit this system, one could travel around the state, go from site to site, pick an address at random off the list, and say it's you. Tricky, but possible if the poll personnel aren't really thinking about it. Heck, with voter turnouts in the 40 percent range, there is a 6 in 10 chance the real guy won't show up anyway, and if he does, then what? They can't pull your ballot out. Nobody knows which one it is. They'd either give the guy another ballot (not sure they can do this) or tell him he can't vote. Either way, your illegal vote is in the system.

No amount of additional hoops to jump thru will make it impossible to cheat at the polls. Every additional hoop to jump through, *discourages people from voting*.

I'm not looking to make it impossible, just harder. And the only people who are really discouraged from voting by enforcement of the election laws are crooks or illegals.
