Feel free to point out anything specific that's not true. I might modify my statement to say the "RADICAL environmental movement," but otherwise I believe I have posted sufficient references in many posts to back this up.
I first heard about this "wildlands" lunacy in a Science News article (Vol. 144, Sept. 11, 1993. Not available online.) that so horrified me that I still have the issue on file. In it, Dave Foreman, Reed F. Noss, and others propose setting aside fully half of the area continental United States as wildlife preserve off limits to humans. They intend this as a serious proposal. Their dismissive attitude towards the people who already inhabit this area of the country is blatant. Such people are currently influential in many areas of the mainstream environmental movement.
The Wildlands people have toned down their surface presentation considerably, for obvious reasons, but the goals are still there if you can dig deep enough into their organizations to get to them.
If I thought presentation of the facts would do me any good, I would scan the article in and dump it here, but what's the point?
