Booze - especially beer - and animal products (fat) are bad news for the pesky prostate, according to material I've read, so I've given up the cheeseburgers and the booze as regular fare. An occasional one or two of either is not going to kill you, but over the long haul, the less of these you consume, the more healthy you and your prostate will be.
In addition, for those who may have missed the recent piece on the Newhour with Jim Lehrer:
"There is no evidence that routine prostate screening improves health outcomes."
Which is to say that that even if you have the screening (80% false positives), submit to the biopsy, find you have cancer, and undergo either prostectomy, radiation or other treatments, there is no evidence that your long term health prospects will be improved, i.e. that you will live longer.
In Sweden, many urologists recommend what the Swedes term "benign neglect" of prostate issues.
More men die with prostate cancer than from prostate cancer. The older you are, the more likely your prostate will have cancer cells, but in most cases, these cancers do not metastasize, or spread to other organs.
Of course, if you have symptoms such as blood in the urine, painful or difficult urination, blood in semen and so on, the above does not apply, and a visit to the doctor is in order.
