Re: politics and disease--a rant.

<Well, AIDS is communicable and could depopulate the planet without study.

What has been firmly ignored is that AIDS is not that communicable. You don't get it from kissing. You don't get it from sharing a drinking glass. You don't get it from being sneezed on. You don't get it from eating food that an infected person prepared. You don't get it from mosquitoes. You don't get it from toilet seats.

You get it from heavy duty exchange of bodily fluids with an infected person.

The spread of AIDS is totally behavior driven, unless you are one of that tiny minority like blood transfusion recipients (rare now), or infants who got it from their mothers.

You basically have to catch it on purpose. The obvious behavioral moral lesson in this is what pisses liberals off, which is why it is ignored. They assume that people who bring this up are homophobic, which is odd since they insist AIDS is NOT the "gay" disease.

Well, they're right. AIDS isn't the "gay" disease. It's the "promiscuity" disease. There would have been no AIDS epidemic in America if the gays had not decided it was their "culture" to anonymously screw anything that walks, one after the other. Heterosexuals with the same attitude also became victims.

To then have the disease treated as somehow the government's fault, or Reagan's fault in particular, was particularly infuriating. The victims didn't want to change their behavior, but demanded some "cure" that would somehow let them continue to bugger each other in random hordes. Naturally, any idea of tracking infected people or anything else that might have lent a measure of control to the situation was thoroughly trounced. License guns, sure. But don't take the name down of someone carrying a 100 percent lethal communicable disease.

If I sound a bit angry about this, I had to see this go down at close range in San Francisco, including the furious resistance to closing down the bathhouses, which were pretty much petri dishes for the AIDS virus. People died who didn't have to. The city was decimated.

Liberals, the same ones who bust a blood vessel at the thought of someone smoking a cigarette in the same time zone that they are standing in, supported this "gay culture" crap wholeheartedly. Gay activists who realized the truth, and tried to get the epidemic stopped at its source, were hooted out of the "movement." "Education" became the watchword, but it was never education about abstinence, or especially monogamy (monogamous gay couples had nothing to fear from AIDS), but about using a condom when you buggered each other in random hordes. Condoms with an average failure rate of about 30 percent in stopping the virus. Liberals who routinely try to shut down industries based on pollution dangers measured in microscopic fractions of a percent, saw nothing wrong with this.

And of course that drug use is a behavior problem goes without saying.

Half a million Americans died on the altar of leftist politics. That's the story that no one wants to hear.

I will concede that Africa is another kettle of fish, but suspect that behavior is driving that epidemic as well.
