Okay, if that's the way the liberals want to play it, fine. The Democrats were just sitting around reading the paper over coffee when suddenly the Republicans decided to take Lott out of the picture. Never mind the organized campaign by the press, especially the Washington Post, and behind-the-scenes action by Carville and Sid Blumenthal that brought an offhanded statement to national attention. Never mind the coordinated bombardment from the usual "black leadership" buttmonkeys, and the rest of the Democratic pet pundits. It was the Republicans who did it. He's gone. Let's get Frist ready for the hell he's about to go through.

Clinton was hauled up before the Senate for committing a federal crime, Lott wasn't. There were a number of convictions from the Starr investigation. Just because Clinton skated--something for which Lott was not entirely blameless--doesn't make the investigation a failure. Although from the Clintonites' point of view, that's all that counts.
