And I think they know it.
As for Frist, he's the only physician in the Senate (heart transplant surgeon). If you remember when the Capital Hill shootings happened a few years ago, Frist is credited with saving lives by providing immediate treatment.
From CNN:
Sen. Bill Frist, Tennessee
Age 50, elected in 1994
Leadership: Outgoing chairman, National Republican Senatorial Committee
Committees: Budget; Foreign Relations; and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
Key issues: Health care and welfare reform
Imagine that, an actual doctor in Congress working on health care issues! Why do some people seem to think that only lawyers can serve in Congress?
Frist is credited with the strategy that helped the Republicans regain control of the Senate in the 2002 elections. I've heard that Bush loves him.
