From what little I've read, it seems the opposition to the veterans disability increase has to do more with double-dipping and budget limitations than the administration being heartless.
A good friend and former next door neighbor is a disabled veteran. He never served in combat - he had MS and is completely disabled. In fact, the VA rates him as 200% disabled (how does that work - sounds like disability inflation to me). He gets $8000 a month tax free plus the VA helped him remodel his home to make it more accessible and buy a van equipped with a lift for his wheelchair. Not that I would trade places with him for a second, but it hardly sounds like he's being neglected or mistreated. I wonder how representative his case is among veterans.

Ignore the other post. Gotta do some more research on the disabled veterans part.
