In Germany, one of the wealthiest nationas in the world they pay have done what you would like the US to do - give everyone cradle to grave healthcare, housing, etc.

It worked, sort-of, for awhile. Mainly because the west Germans were more industrious than any other peoples on the planet, except for maybe the Japanese.

The government can't handle the burdens so it decides to TAX TAX TAX TAX ...TAX some more all while knocking off benefits one by one.

Recipients of pensions from dead spouses - still pay taxes the deceased would pay as if alive. The tax keeps getting bigger.

Now they have a limit on the number of doctor visits you can make per year.

Really sick? Old? Well tough luck! "Private insure yourself!" they now say.

Oh, socialism collapsing is NOT a pretty sight!

10% unemployed in a nation of 84 million that means roughly 8.4 million people are looking for jobs!

I learned about socialism early. I've mentioned this before and I'll mention it again so it can sink in.

In Germany, the same doctors who are in the socialized system also take the privately insured.

My mother was told much later why they went in a different entrance at the doctors. Almost all facilities had TWO waiting rooms, two types of customers - the PAYING customer, and the SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT customer.

Well guess who gets served first? Guess who gets the medicines first? Guess who gets the better care?

Yep, the PAYING customer. The socialist customers would wait forever - because the doctor would see one of them for every five paying customers.

And this was when Germany could afford to provide the services!!!!! Now they can't afford to keep it going and even that lousy system appears like a miracle next to today's overburdened system!

Socialism IS a COLOSSAL failure. It doesn't work. It limps along trying to merge capitalism and communism, but the communism half slowly rots the system apart. All of Europe is slowly waking up to this fact. Unfortunatley, like the Russians - they have little experience with a fully capitalistic, non-socialist system. They will need to be re-educated just as have the former communists.

Yes, your whole assumption that if you loot enough hard working people's money for the treasury you can redistribute it all in a social utopia - is an absolute farce.

Look at the failure of socialized medicine to curb even obvious health threats like smoking! In europe, whenever I visit - it's like a go--amned chimney! At least 8 out of 10 people are smoking - in 2003!!!

That's your "prized" socialist healthcare at work!

Bottom line Bowser - if you don't pay they don't give a rat's rump about you!
