Do we really want European troops, commanders, etc... when we are involved in a lightning war in Iraq?
The more I think about it, the more I think that the US has asked NATO to stay out of this one. The United States needs this opportunity to act unilaterally to estabish that we are capable of acting outside of a UN or NATO mandate.
We need to do this to prove once and for all to the would be terrorist sponsering nations of the Middle East and elsewhere that the last thing they want to do is to threaten the United States.
We don't need France, and even if we had Germany, their troops would only serve in a support role.
A couple of US Marine Divisions can bring the Iraqi leadership to justice without the help of the UN.
