Post war arrangements
If it comes to war without a new resolution, in spite of their less than helpful position, I imagine that France will still be included in "post war arrangements". That seems to be our diplomatic way of doing things.
A change in that thinking might be refreshing. For all the criticism we get we don't really "throw our weight around" like we are accused of doing.
