I doubt we eat out once a week. Even then, if there are leftovers, we bring them home. I hate wasting food.

I think the biggest thing we do to keep our grocery costs down is to avoid buying "ready to serve" convience foods. Those packaged foods are usually a lot more expensive per meal than buying the raw materials and cooking them ourselves. We do most of our cooking on Sunday and rewarm the meals when we get home during the week.

It isn't easy shopping for two people because most products come in pretty large sizes. Good thing we don't mind leftovers. I can eat the same thing several times a week without complaint. Some foods like adobo or spagetti sauce get better the 2nd and 3rd time around.
