An opinion about that
The reason that conservatives get their pants in a wad over celebs:
Rightly or wrongly conservatives believe that many (not all) liberals are somewhat shallow and all about the mirror image self. The question is which came first the image or the dogma?
The celebrity liberal bolsters the liberal view that the left is attractive and cool, while the right is ugly and in bad taste.
Liberal celebs are the left's equivalent of talk radio, a perception of nealy total domination. Naturally, as the left hates talk radio, the right hates the celebrity libs.
Me, I like Kurt Russell and Goldie.
