It's Simple
2 groups with little respect for each other have a common despised enemy and resources of mutual benefit. Both have shown a willingness to use whatever means necessary to achieve their aims including sacrificing fellow Muslims and their own forces. Now why would you think they wouldn't work together if convenient? They can always stab each other in the back later.
