I may have misinterpreted you. If you are talking about the decision to support an uprising later, after our troops had left, then I concede your point.
However, you also have to admit that if we had gone in and given the uprising the military support it would have needed, that all the same people (France, the protesters, the U.N., etc.) chewing on our leg right now would have given us an equal amount of grief back then.
