Smell test
It simply didn't pass the smell test, right off the bat. Way too convenient, and c'mon, did you catch the use of the term "shock and awe"? Against that, the Google search was just icing on the cake.
Yes, we need a reference. Lacking one, I wouldn't give it the time of day.
