<Tom, last I checked you still refuse to acknowledge that NO other attempt at a solution has been applied to Iraq for 12 years except the bureaucratic freight train of sanctions and corrupt UN administered oil-for-food, which became just a complete hook for UN and international organized crime. It was like crack for bureaucrats- the only way for it to keep the powers-that-be in power and wealthy was for it to never 'work', just roll on-and-on.... So the black market was ignored because to 'see' it was to admit failure, and the UN as a body had no initiative to pursue a strong enforcement because Russia and France and even US companies were getting rich running the sanctions. And the UN was getting fat on their 'administrative cut' of the oil-for food money and had no desire to 'end' it.

Do you call this debacle an honest attempt at solution? Are you that blinded by your ideology?



Sanctions were tried, and corruption on the part of the U.N. and Saddam ruined them. So how would you make sanctions work? Reform the U.N.? Make Saddam see the light?

- Remove Saddam by military action.

- Leave Saddam alone.

As you yourself have just pointed out, nothing else worked.

It is ridiculous to use "somehow!" as an argument. It is ridiculous to assume that had Bush, Clinton and Bush thought hard enough for 12 years, they would have come up with some amazing that apparently seems to be evading every intelligent person I have had contact with.

You've got nothing. And pretending that something HAS to exist is not an argument. I could argue similarly that it is useless for NASA to use rockets to get into space because if they spent enough time and money on research instead they might come up with antigravity.

Come up with something else that would have worked in Iraq, or shut up. I'm tired of this.
