Current Events » in reply to ok then... If CNN found WMDs in Iraq...

Pardon me for horning in here and speaking of you as if you were not in the room, Don...

If Don said, "There are no weapons of mass destruction", he would be making a fool of himself, with no help from CNN, because we don't really know either way yet, officially.

If Don said, "There have been no reports of weapons of mass destruction being found," he would not be a fool because he would be speaking the truth insofar as it has been reported.

Do you feel like a fool when the police refuse to publish every detail of an ongoing investigation and the press cooperates in this to help catch the criminal? Do you feel like a fool because you don't know every detail of troop movements as they happen, even though there is a reporter right there? Then please, think. This same principle applies to your example.

People feel like fools when they overstep their knowledge and authority and then are caught. Sometimes they catch themselves. The wise admit they have been fools and try to do better. The ones who try to blame someone else for their foolishness get to wear the funny hat with the bells for a while.

Regards--
Mary Anne
