"it is asking a lot of our intelligence operations to see through that to the truth, don't you think?"
Actually, no. I would like the Intelligence organs to know the actual facts-on-the-ground, at least as an aim. This actually gets into counter-counter-intelligence issues. You don't want to be too 'wired-in' to the system you are observing because you can get intentionally mislead... This is where human assets will trump signals int... In code-breaking, you don't want to be too dependent on catching pad-repititions and plaintext mistakes from your adversary as your primary means of code-breaking, as you are likely being lead into 'decoy' messages...
"I am speculating on a possibility. "
Yeah, I am starting to doubt the existence of WMD in quantities, qualities and capabilities that will justify our pre-war hype. The 'smuggled into syria/france/iran/russia' just sounds like flat-out unsubstantiated/unsubstantiable hogwash, as does the 'he destroyed it in the last moment just to spite us'. I am starting to get very concerned on this issue. The lack of WMD has several possible implications about our government that I really don't wan't to consider. I don't like Bush, for sure, and he's not my man- but this [no WMD] is indicitive of failure/deception all up-and-down the governmental spectrum- either way that is really unsettling to me.
