Join Don and the other bitter liberals seeking a flaw in Bush's diamond...

...but don't put any wagers with Lloyds of London that WMD will not be found or that democrats will get ANY mileage out of the issue.

I addressed the issue to Don earlier...and it seems most folks buy into the fact that we haven't found anything yet, that all our intelligence services were just making stuff up and that our Special Activities Directorate folks have been twiddling their thumbs.

No, the confiscation of WMD is a classified endeavor. The military is not a free-for-all. There are laws and protocol being used to process information. It does not all get divulged to the news channels as they go. There are no reporters embedded with the CIA folks or the military units involved in WMD identification, confiscation and removal.

This allows Bush unprecedented control of the process and the flow of information. In fact, there is a good chance that on several occasions when WMD were announced - they actually had been discovered and the stories were retracted.

Why?

Because it is still a VERY dangerous process and letting the Saddam loyalists (who still exist in considerable numbers) know (via the blabbing media) just where we are or when we are looking is not a good idea, in fact, it is far more apt to be described as stupid.

Concealment of information serves clandestine operations throughout the middle east to a tee. Each WMD confiscation may lead to the apprehension of individuals who still have families in jeopardy...or individuals who can lead us to further caches of WMD.

In some instances, it is likely that the people can point to foreign sources and suppliers and lead us to raids in neighboring nations before they know they have been revealed.

The bottom line for Bush is the advice of Karl Rove - who is surely suggesting Bush first let the left and the other nations hang themselves on the impressions being cast that we have been unsuccessful in the quest for WMD.

Trust me...if none had been confiscated, Daschle and the folks with connections to leakers inside the CIA and Pentagon would be all over Bush seeking an issue to clobber Bush with for 2004.

It as an old war tactic to turn and run...even though you are in superior numbers - so as to encourage your opponents to chase you. The fastest chasers were the first die as the army turned again and slaughtered the now overeager and careless foes.

Rove is a student of The Art of War...and this approach is obvious to those who are looking for it.

But be my guest...join Don in the outraged, infuriated corner and demand Bush's head on a pike...but don't be the loudest or the fastest critic.

;-)
