And you can make the perfect mousetrap...
RobVG:
"Or our decission was based on assumtions."
Assumptions made, RobVG, with LACK of facts, or on very thin facts (the say-so of a former Iraqi Military officer in Kurdish hands for a decade, for example), or IGNORING CONTRADICTING facts.
I could assume that Planet X exists with EQUAL factual basis as Terrorists and (as it may turn out) WMD. I could then say that NOT acting on the "Planet X Problem" was irresponsible. And that would be EQUIVALENT to the argument you just gave.
I can ASSUME all I want about a great many things. Some of those assumptions may be wrong and some MAY be right. But to take lives, kill people, maim people on the BASIS of an ASSUMPTION is COMPLETELY wrong- This is a moral fact, an ethical fact and a fact of pure empirical decision making.
Look. Im sorry to put it this way, but I did my homework before the war on the Terrorist thing- and there was NOTHING there. You would have to be ignorant or a bald-faced liar to claim there WAS something there.
The problem is that the lies were comforting, made us feel righteous, and the ignorance was the easy thing to do.
So we went to war...
