Pretty tame for a flame and particularly for Ed. I think he likes you. He simply points out that in his opinion you use flawed reference to forward your agenda. I agree with him.
As to the Don Quixote thing, it may be irritating but DC was a decent, idealistic sort. Not exactly an ad hominem any more than if you referred to him as Mr. Ed or Eddie Haskel. Nothing he said rises to the level of calling you stupid. This is not typical of you but it is the favorite fall back of offended or cornered liberals.
