Private companies are after what brings back money and in order to be reassured, it must have brought back money in the past.
So, private companies are very conservative (especially if they need to rely on other institutions for the money (like banks)).
They'll launch whatever has showed success and has brought back money.
Unfortunately, it's mostly interesting to those who've invested heavily in that private launch or mission or satellite. Not the rest of us.
For me, space is such a vast place full of unknowns that need to be discovered that I cannot rely on something that will require assured money return. We must leave room for mistakes.
