re: What they show.

Hi Rob

I don't think anyone seriously denies that Iraq once had a nuclear weapons program. However the US invaded Iraq and fought a war based on the idea that Iraq currently had WMDs and was a clear and present danger to the US. This just wasn't the case.

I want to believe in UFOs, they would be really cool, but I can't believe in them because real evidence doesn't suppport their existence.

If significant quantities of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons are found in Iraq - well, I've got some BBQ sauce around that would make crow somewhat edible. But how much time is enough?

A large part of my concern, however, is that most (US) people don't even seem to care whether WMD are found or not, or if what their leaders said to them to garner support for the invasion was true or not.

Here's a question for all the Americans here: what is your impression of the general public opinion on all this? What is the talk around the water cooler, the local bar, the supermarket checkout, the backyard barbecue? Do people care as much about the justifications, results and implications of war as they do about American Idol or Laci Peterson or Harry Potter?
