re: Barry I Earn A Living By Science You Do Not

"Your plywood comments are grossly misleading and you know it. The fact that you continue to label these structures as if they were composed mostly of plywood is yet another example of your inate dishonesty. "

Btw, what's wrong with plywood. Generally speaking, wood is a good material. Per it's weight it's stronger than steel. And plywood can be made airtight.
The only thing I'd thought "wrong" about using plywood- was the sim of dropping a hab- the plywood wasn't part of orginal design and had to be bought locally- obviously you wouldn't have this option on Mars.
Now, aluminum and fiberglass are better than wood as far as strenght to weight, but probably what you are actually going to use for Mars is a carbon composite material. Of course, a missing element here is radiation levels- and in terms of radiation wood at least, is a hydrocarbon. But you are probably going to use the carbon composite material and augment this with local material on Mars for radiation protection. If you weren't going to augment with maritian material- then wood would probably be better than any other substance.
