If you interpretted the pointing out of an inconsistency in the stand of a professional/political organization as an attack on librarians as librarians, that would be a misinterpretation.
The ALA, like any organization, makes political statements in the public square.
Certainly we are not at the point where it is prohibited to respond vigorously to those ideas....or are we?
