First of all...

...how do you know this? The folks from FCL tell you this? What procedures do librarians in Cuba follow that make them members of the Cuban secret police? Do they pass on their circulation records to the Cuban Department of Domestic Security? Please state your objective sources, with supporting quotes, so I know you aren't making this up.

Secondly, if this is indeed the case, how dare you suggest that what is a horror when Castro requires it is hunky-dory when Ashcroft does?

Thirdly, who do you think has a better chance of getting information out to Cuban citizens: qualified, experienced librarians working in actual libraries, or amateurs circulating miniscule collections to a few dozen people in fly-by-night operations? Who do you think is more worthwhile trying to influence and partner with? Who do you think will still be there after old Fidel finally kicks the bucket? Who do you think gives a rip about their professional reputations with their colleagues in North America, hmmm?
