My company refused to make a modest investment of 4 to 6 million which would have been paid back in three months to keep production of a new product where the expertise to produce it was. Instead it was transfered to Europe where idle capacity was. The lack of expertise and cold weather storage resulted in millions of dollars worth of off-spec product. The rise in the Swiss Franc and Euro has also severely impacted the net margin because the sales are primarily in NAFTA. Industry is not known for risk taking or looking at the long term these days Phil. You expect them to accept both high risk and a long term outlook. Sorry but that's got far less historical evidence for success than giving NASA clear goals and a time table. Any CEO who gambles big on prizes and looses is going to loose his job. Name one who you think has the nads and the finances to tackle it.

Mark
