EPA: The new rules, an attempt to make things a bit more reasonable, require that the plants that are given a pass on brand new equipment still have to meet existing EPA regulations. This fact will not get a lot of press. Nor will the fact that this may help improve our current touchy power situation.
Halliburton: It requires large companies to accomplish what needs to be done in Iraq. Halliburton is one. Had a competitor, like Bechtel, won the job, the Left would be all over supposed Bush/Bechtel connections. In fact, I can't think of a large American oil/energy company that could have been selected that would NOT have caused the Left to go "Aha! The fix is in!" A no-win situation, PR wise.
Federal pay raise cut*: Affects maybe a million public employees. Not likely to get too much sympathy from the private sector, which has not seen a lot of joy in the pay department lately themselves.
*Will be interesting to see how many media outlets shortcut this to a "pay cut," as opposed to a cut in the size of the raise.
