That's not some trivial error.
As far as the ML thing goes, Clinton rightly believed the Republicans were out to get him and handed them a bazooka by his own actions. An action which rendered him and his agenda pretty much worthless in his second term. As someone who supported a large portion of his agenda I was furious at the lack of self control and the deriliction of duty his actions represented. In the context of what was going on that affair was not a minor issue.
