re: wow, too negative. . . Kinder/Gentler/Corrected manifesto

Justin, you have access to more information than most of us. As to its accuracy? Debatable.

I supported the action in Iraq, not because of Saddam’s perverted wholesale desire to have the latest and greatest slice of Hell to show off, and use on anyone and everyone.
I supported the action in Iraq because of what he was, and what he had done to over four million people, a large percentage of whom were Iraqi’s. I did, and still believe he had a number of chemical and bio-weapons. Not Nuclear though. To easy to find, requiring a large industrial base, which would have been obvious from quite some distance away.

Also, I believe he had every intention of using them, but with the speedy devastating military force bearing down on him, along with the communications failures, he hid them, or sent them out of the country. I remind those who express doubts, those opposed on all grounds won’t look at it this way. Iraq is a large country, and it has quite a bit of empty desert out there, which can be dug up quite easily, allowing huge quantities of military hardware to be stashed. It is also bordered by a number of countries which are not fond of America. In those countries substantial numbers of radical Muhadijadin would cheerfully hide such supplies in hopes of using them.

Example, a number of major assets have been discovered, such as MIG fighters under the sand.

I knew we would reap the whirlwind going in, the long and arduous trip to an Iraq that would be infinitely better off is hard, and bloody. Morever it will be expensive, very expensive. But no one with an idiot’s ration of common sense would expect anything less.

Whatever the beginning, now we have virtually no choice. We must stay, we must rebuild Iraq, if we withdraw now the resulting chaos would breed a wave of devoted terrorists such as we’ve not seen to date.

I do believe that if information was manufactured by our government someone has to answer for it. Did Bush order such information? I have no idea, if so he must take responsibility, if not he needs to find who did and take appropriate action.

I do have to point out, even the Chinese, French and the Russians had the same intelligence as we did. Their respective Intelligence agencies all reported that Saddam & Co had some Bio-Chem weapons on hand and was diverting huge amounts of scarce resources to obtain or manufacture more.

So what we have is a series of problems, for now I believe we need to deal with the immediate problem of moving Iraq and its people towards a viable free society. It will be very difficult, for almost a century the artificial entity of Iraq has been a land ruled by the Iron Fist. First by the British, then their own despots.

It will take time to untangle the Gordian knot, a lot of time, and more than a few lives I fear.
