You make a very good point about the "involuntary" part. I can't very well be against the draft and for forced public service, can I? But if you make it voluntary, we get the people who are hungry for power climbing up to the podium again. How do you get a person who doesn't want power (ideal for the job) without forcing him? Yipes. Catch-22. May be a fatal flaw in my idea. The campaign funding bit may be another. Ah, well.
