I have never insisted that Saddam was connected with 9/11, although early on there was information coming out of Salman Pak that looked damned suspicious at the time. Anti-war people assumed the defectors were lying, since they were connected with a group that hated Saddam* and since no other evidence has been forthcoming, not much has come of it since.
Oddly, there is more circumstantial evidence linking Iraq to the first WTC bombing than to 9/11, although I have seen nothing that a reasonable person would take to a court. What happened to Abdul Yasin, anyway?
*Apparently only pro-Saddam defectors would be credible. And yes, "pro-Saddam defector" is a null set.
