Who really has the dim view of Americans?

So let see...

What you're saying is that you believe if Saddam could be tied in to 9/11 that would legitimize our invasion of Iraq? And that the speechwriters believe the public will believe that Saddam's men flew the planes into the tower?

I think the general Bush conspiracy minded sites that are out there are all run by manic-paranoid delusionals and that the left peruses these sites to their mental detriment.

Everybody knows the hijackers were Saudis and were part of the Al Qaeda terrorist network.

Everybody knows that the Taliban led government of Afghanistan was harboring Al Qaeda and their training camps.

Everyone also knows that Saddam was shooting at our no-fly planes daily and being a non-apologetic signee to the cease-fire that ended the Gulf War of 1991. They knew that as recently as 1998 Saddam had 145 tons of weaponized anthrax ready to be utilized against his enemies. Let's review how deadly anthrax is, shall we? One pound is enough to kill off a small town. One ton is enough to wipe out a major city. 145 tons is enough to wipe out most of the US population centers.

Any rational, non-delusional observer could see that someone with 145 tons of anthrax in 1998 - despite all the sanctions and UN resolutions - could have a LOT more buried around waiting usage. After we disposed of the primary Taliban & AL Qaeda elements and several fled to Iraq's northern regions - the intelligence agencies charged with our security were not going to sit on their hands and wait for a marriage of mutual hatred allow Saddam to share any of his weaponized anthrax with Al Qaeda. Even one of his weaponized bombs would be enough to kill off every soldier and civilian stationed at a US military base in Afghanistan.

Such a risk was deemed unacceptable.

Rational observers realize that there was FAR more than enough justification to go after Saddam Hussein for national security reasons, even prior to 9-11. 9-11 was a wake up call and simply pushed the US to stop procrastinating when it comes to foreign policy and terrorist management.

You say I hold a dim view of the US populace - but if you believe everyone nods like bobblehead toys on a dashboard when Bush mentions Saddam and 9-11 together in a speech, then it is you who holds a dim view of the average American's intelligence and acuity.
