The old satirical Seinfeld tag line sums up my feelings on the matter precisely. He, or his writers, were making the same point I am.

No, I'm just sensitive to social pressure to be particularly nice (or nasty) to certain groups or ideas simply because it is a sign of right-thinking or political correctness. I don't like to be shamed into saying the Pledge of Allegiance, or saluting the flag, or reciting the Lord's Prayer or making excuses for any crimes the military, (or ghetto thugs and welfare cheats, for that matter), do either. And yes, rap music sucks. Its the same kind of social extortion used to intimidate people into accepting or supporting a position by implying they are bigots (or unpatriotic)if they don't. Both Liberals and Conservatives do this, and it annoys the shit out of me.

I'm not accusing Jody of that, I'm just saying that I don't need to go way out of my way to be nice to anyone to establish my humanitarian bona fides, all I owe them is common courtesy.

As for the unfortunate comparison with any other Zoners...well, I'm not accusing gays of being part of a Mainstream Media conspiracy or lying about the causes of global warming.
