First off you are exactly right, there are some very good people that just happen to be poor I’ve met a bunch of them. But, in my experiences I’ve seen the areas of town that are poor, during the day everything is usually normal and under control but night is a different story. The Drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes and gang-bangers wearing their colors come out in droves. Kids usually make up the majority of gang members and usually gangs sell drugs, do drive bys (attack another gang) and pimp to make money. Now, does every kid in impoverished areas get involved in crime? No but a lot do.
I grew up in what would probably be considered a middle to upper middle class neighborhood and we had none of that there when night night came we where in the house. Did you have a few pot smokers and cocaine users? Of course we did but not to the extent the inner cities had, not even close.
The third ward is well known to vendors that deliver goods there to make sure they lock all doors and make all deliveries as fast as possible, because the kids would steal you blind and shake you down for money or anything you had that was valuable. This is first hand information from a friend of mine that worked for Coca-Cola. It could have changed since then I’m not sure.

I don’t completely disagree with you.
