The media is one place this war is being fought.

The guerillas and terrorists in Iraq, whether Baathist, Islamist, or both, have a single goal: to make the war politically unpopular enough to cause us to pull out. That's it. That's the whole plan. They've got nothing else. They can beat us in no other way. Got it?

In this specific context, the deliberate twisting and selecting of news and coverage to enhance American failure and setbacks, while ignoring progress, is a major factor in this effort.

They can squall like a wet cat at the implication, but the fact is that protesters, biased newsmen, and those who are attempting to engineer our failure in Iraq are helping the people that are blowing up Red Cross buildings and killing our soldiers in Iraq.

The war is being fought in political debate and the newspapers as much as it is in Iraq.

They can squall about free speech, too. Just because the government has no right to shut them up does not mean that what they are saying is helpful.

And oh, yes. Tell the protesters to save the "it's our patriotic duty to criticize the government" crap for the rubes. We all know what their motivations are, with their dreams of another Vietnam-style defeat for America, and patriotism doesn't have jack shit to do with it.
