Saddam based many of his prior decisions on exactly this premise.
he was consistent in it.
He is still pulling the strings in this resistance, and until we kill him he will continue to inspire these attacks.
The NYT etc. is enabling these tyrants by meaking the case that every casualty is weakening our resolve. The link is clear. Saddam thanked the Euros and Americans who protested in his favor prior to the war, and he is inspired by the pro-Saddam slant of the news in much of the world.
Just like Hitler, Saddam believes his own bullshit, only he doesn't need a Goebbels. he can tune into the BBC, NPR or al jazeera.
