Space/Science » in reply to Stop Spamming This Board

Is there a double standard here? Aren't the sinecures that pro-entrepreneurial reforms would threaten worth threatening, though?

As a preface: I find this forum to be informative. If I didn't want it to flourish, I'd not waste energy and time trying to add diverse, documented viewpoints to it. I learn from it from time to time. There are some smart people here who are worth engaging, learning from and perhaps even educating. As for:

>>>A cursory look and I count nine posts by you, and only one of which contributes to discussion.<<<<

Is that a moderator's judgement or a personal value judgement shared merely by like-minded people? And regardless of whether my disinterested (and I think altruistic) pro-entrepreneurial message is wrong or not, don't you give us a fairly open range by advocating verbal abuse towards cats and expectorating onto floors in the guidelines above? I stoop to neither level, though, nor will I ever. But pro-entrepreneurial reform proposals that I advocate do leave some feeling that their sinecures are potentially threatened. Isn't censorship an admission that such protectionism can't withstand rational scrutiny though?

>>> The rest is an eyesore/blatant spam. <<<<

Perhaps the pro-entrepreneurial reforms that I've been selflessly volunteering to further for years jeopardizes your niche or that (those?) of someone close to you? I mean you no personal harm. Indeed, with pro-entrepreneurial reforms:

I venture to say that you'd be far better off, as would 99.9% of us. I wish your hostilities could be channeled into socially beneficial political activism rather than on attacking the messenger. I'm hardly the only messenger, and I invite you to attempt to prove that my motives are anything but altruistic.

>>>I don't like taking action anymore, I find that boards often do better if left by themselves, but you are a special case.<<<

I do appear to be the only one at this forum who regularly espouses the nonstatist approach to opening the space frontier. Somehow I don't think that's what you had in mind when singling me out and calling me "special" though.

>>>"I can tolerate you posting a link to your website in your message body, but if you do, do so in a way that contributes to general conversation."<<<

Don't you tolerate everyone ELSE's doing it?

>>> Have some conversation to go along with that link.<<<<

Isn't brevity the soul of wit? Why regurgitate what I say in a subject heading when all it would do is make folks waste time clicking to re-read what they basically just saw anyway? In the past, postings of mine have been criticized (by friends) as being too verbose. I DO ACKNOWLEDGE, THOUGH, THAT THESE BOARDS CAN FILL UP TOO QUICKLY WITH NON-SUBSTANTIVE POSTINGS, TO THE DEMISE OF THE BOARD. AFTER ALL, A SINGLE THREAD CAN BECOME TOO CLUTTERED IF ENOUGH SUCH POSTINGS EMERGE, AND THAT FORCES OTHER WORTHWHILE THREADS TO BE PUSHED BACK TO SUBSEQUENT PAGES. THAT'S NOT IDEAL BECAUSE EVIDENTLY ONE CAN'T TELL ON SUBSEQUENT PAGES WHETHER ONE HAS ALREADY READ PARTICULAR SUB-THREADS. Hmmmm....This concern of yours does NOT seem to be at least subconsciously driven by less than admirable motivations. And I suppose it's easier to make an example out of me than to simply ask that all stop doing what I learned to do from others here. I do not want this board's quality to deteriorate though. I want to do what's best for the board.

>>> Stop leaving posts with no text and just your url as your handle.<<<<

Hopefully you don't think that I simply seek to draw traffic to our 100% nonprofit website. This board has too few viewers to make that worthwhile. I learn at this forum from time to time, and I think this board has some real thinkers who deserve to see the other side (from which folks at NASA and its pet contractors are insulated, and I say this from personal experience).

>>> Or posts with just a link to your website in the message body. <<<<

I wish I knew why it's not objectionable for others (whom I've been mimicing) to do precisely that, even though it suddenly is for me.

>>>This post is a good example. . .

Thank you. Although as you noticed, only part of it was answered. Perhaps my reply there was too long, I thought. I have tried to be more concise lately, but unfortunately it's being perceived as spam by you now. The misperception is unintentional on my part. The lawyer in me is used to using footnotes in citations to save space and time. The notion of "incorporating by reference" is commonplace in the legal profession. It's often used here with external links, too. I admired that approach and adopted it for myself. Perhaps what seems objectionable about my version of doing it is that often such external links from me return one to sites that I help maintain. However, those sites are very rich in external links, including of course links to HABITABLE ZONE. If there's any honest misunderstanding here, I certainly apologize for the unfortunate misperception.

>>>All of your other posts are bad examples.<<<<

Before you and your accomplice could say that I'd not been here long enough and hadn't paid my dues and therefore I warrant being singled out. Now I suppose the "justification" is more one of preference. You have that right, just as I had the right to come down hard on you guys for allowing libelous material about me to be fomented here. I chose not to because I felt that this forum had potential, and I have thick skin (for the good of the cause). I nevertheless prefer to keep my personal data OUT of the discussions because I'm a trivial pawn in the overall scheme of things, and not worth getting distracted over. Energy wasted focusing on personalities is energy that could be better spent achieving what I think we desperately need to do: bringing life to space and space to life.

>>>I would also suggest adopting username.<<<

Every forum to which I've posted for the past few years has the NASAWatch.INFO handle representing myself, for the reasons mentioned above. That perfectly legal website was censored from here (and only here, peculiarly enough) so I adapted and used an alternative handle that hardly suffices in terms of representing what I stand for. I would like to be able to use that one here too, but I do understand that you may be compromised from allowing it. It's the nepotism and favoritism in the U.S. space industry from which we all need to be liberated if our dreams are to become a reality and we're to be perceived by the real world as being anything other than mere spacegeeks.
