I would like some confirmation that they did sterilize their spacecraft as the story Rummel related in the article is what I heard as well.

They would throw a party and hang around the spacecraft smoking and drinking for hours. Then a couple days later they would launch the thing. The 48 hours plus in the oven thing doesn't work to well with that scenario. So what did they do? Gas them? For how long and in what?
